Always and forever, right?
Hearts are forever ice
Cold as the arctic
Whenever you dealing with hardships
Your brain driving you insane you know where you can park it
Thoughts of me when you roll up and spark it
Or sipping liquor or whatever
One conversation and our ties were severed
Cut entirely off like a quadriplegic
Said you could have all of me but you didn’t believe it
Guess now I know to stay at home like Lebron in Cleveland

Lying without saying a word is an art that you’ve perfected
Your behavior was dissected
Intelligence was neglected
Actions couldn’t be corrected
Questions were erected
Because love was invested
Then presence was ejected
When solutions weren’t selected
Truth is?
Is He real?
Can I please have proof?
They say it’s 10 rules
Gives us don’ts and do’s
When they ask what do you tell the youth?
I want to know too
Can’t ask the pastor so who?
I’m not sure, only the dead know the truth
Cole Too
I’ve seen spirits.
Never met them nor spoke.
But been in there company.
We’ve looked eye to figure
Some were even recognizable
Grandmother, Pop, aunt Ethel.
I watched them watch me.
Uninterrupted analysis of each other
I noticed them, they knew me
They’ve watched me grow
Skinny and big ears
Now they see my progress
Tall, healthy as an ox
Their spirits protect me
Guide me
Nurture me
I’ve seen spirits.

Competing constantly to be FIRST
Thinking about it all night, can’t sleep for a SECOND
Get paid the beginning of the month but broke by the THIRD
Stressing more and more henceFORTH
I’m to the point I feel like I need to drink a FIFTH
Drained all 5 senses I’m searching for the SIXTH
The Negro Speaks of Rivers
I’ve known rivers:
I’ve known rivers ancient as the world and older than the
flow of human blood in human veins.
My soul has grown deep like the rivers.
I bathed in the Euphrates when dawns were young.
I built my hut near the Congo and it lulled me to sleep.
I looked upon the Nile and raised the pyramids above it.
I heard the singing of the Mississippi when Abe Lincoln
went down to New Orleans, and I’ve seen its muddy
bosom turn all golden in the sunset.
I’ve known rivers:
Ancient, dusky rivers.
My soul has grown deep like the rivers.
Langston Hughes, 1902 – 1967
In 4th grade I recited this poem for a project and since Langston Hughes has always been my favorite poet. If you haven’t already I encourage you to read into his works as well as his history. Hope you all can appreciate this poem as much as I do.

Repetition
Checking your social network pages
Hoping you post something new
It’s really starting to get old
This obsession I have for you
You came to me and then for me
I told you I loved you
You said you adored me
You’re my sanity I go crazy when you ignore me
The sound of your laugh
The curves of your smile
Can’t mention everything I love about you
I’d be writing for quite a while
I vow to pick you up when you’re down
Make you happy when you frown
Flood me with your love
I’m willing to drown
Short and Sweet (March 25 2014)
You’re the only thing I see
Why do you leave my vision
Wasn’t much to talk about
Nothing even worth a mention
Can’t focus on anything anymore
Impossible to pay attention
Hopefully things go up from here
I’m looking forward to the ascension

Love is a drug
I’m having withdrawls
Upset at unanswered texts
Pissed off at missed calls
Ironic that You’re short
And I’m tall because
Whenever we’re up
Somehow we fall
I need you
Do you need me?
When you’re not in my sight
I just can not see
I have to have you
There’s no other option
But it’s like I’m done buying
And you’re still shopping
I need a doctor
My heart ain’t broken but it’s dropping
Just write a prescription make sure it say
it’s ok for me to take all these pills that I’m popping
Need a therapist to open my mind
And free all the pain that’s locked in
Maybe I found the key since I think we’re good now
Unfortunately just not then
Like wine hopefully we get better with age
Might be reading the same book
Just gotta get on the same page
I know it’ll happen but until then…mama always told me about these days.
More Than Physical
Your touch as sensitive as you are emotionally
At times I hate it but I love it while you’re holding me.
Nothing but appreciation for your openness
Satisfied by the wetness of your lips every time that we kiss
When you spread your love for me I can’t wait to nurture it
Your tenderness dripping on my taste buds, so affectionate.
Massaging your folds covering you with my soul
Stroking within your depths so deeply I’m in a part of you only myself and God knows
Your face and knees on the bed, your lusciousness in the air
Just in awe of your vulnerability I can’t help but stare
Entering you generously offering my lust endlessly.
As we fully become apart of each other our emotions peak relentlessly
Afterwards laying together, your head on my chest
Thinking silently about why I ever settled for anything less
Comforting one another in warmth, I glance at the fan above you
Then looking down into your eyes my only thought is I love you.
